When the German forces overran the Yugo plants in early 1941, they continued production with the design finding firm favour among German troops especially the SS in the early parts of the war as a it was an easy support weapon for one soldier to use effectively on the move. Production seised towards the end of WW2. This example is all matching numbers and has early German acceptance stamp "HK" for Heinrich Krieghoff. It is considered by many to be the finest light machine gun of WWII. Using the same design, the British developed the legendary Bren gun.
